First [1] Step: Check for clogged materials

It’s easy if you notice your canister vacuum cleaner stops picking up debris or dirt particles, yet the vacuum’s motor is active, then you would know the problem emanates from either the rollers or the hose. Most times, a clogged hose causes such a problem.
To be sure of the cause of the problem, you can simply turn your vacuum upside down and check to see if the roller at the base is clogged.
If it’s not clogged, then it’s the hose causing this problem. To be sure, you can also check to see if the roller is turning.
Now that you’re sure it’s the hose causing the problem, you should check the entrance of the hose for any blockage, such as formed debris, a piece of clothing, a toy, pegs, etc. All these items listed can be the cause of the blockage

Once you notice the items in the entrance of the house, try pulling them out. Although most times these items get pushed further inside the hose, you can use a hanger hook to try pulling the items one after the other. They are other alternatives to using a hanger hook for the removal; you can make use a mop handle, broom handle to loosen the clog, so it can be pulled it out easily.

You’ve tried different hooks and handles, yet the clogged items are unable to be dislodged. Well, you can detach the hose from the canister vacuum. You would have to apply pressure using duct tape on the affected part of the hose. If you notice multiple cracks/holes this happens as a result of the brush being brittle and if the case then it would be better you replace the hose
Note: Before using duct tape on the leak, ensure the particular area is completely dry and dust-free so the tape can be firm. This is why I recommend you allow the hose dry for some few hours after cleaning the hose, before applying strips of duct tape on the affected area.
Please leave no gap in the leak, and ensure the tape you’re using is pressed firmly against the hose
Seventh [7] Step: Clean out the stickiness in the hose
Now that you’ve sealed the vacuum, you need to remove the stickiness inside the hose due to the adhesive properties of the duct tape.
Although by pressing the duct tape against the hose, you would have reduced the stickiness but to further reduce the stickiness, sprinkle some talcum or chalk on the floor, then plug your vacuum to suck it up. By doing this, all the stickiness would be totally wiped out.
Note: as you vacuum continually, the flow of air would pass through your vacuum hose, and the air pressure is quite strong, with time the duct tape will eventually peel off the edges of the duct tape. Although you can continue sealing the leak each time it gets peeled off, the leak would get bigger. So if you’ve repeated the sealing twice, I recommend you replace the hose, so it doesn’t get torn while you’re vacuuming.
